Alana is a walking newsroom; she always has half a dozen story ideas percolating in her head. And they are never tired ideas - they are fresh stories with new ways of reporting.
The strength of Alana's journalism is her keen interest in the world around her, she never switches off, always observing, questioning - working on the next story.
Alana is a journalist of tomorrow - questioning what is the next platform for quality journalism, how it will be financially supported and what is the future of journalism in the face of social media and self publishing. She does not pine for yesterday - she seeks opportunity in what comes next.
- Jason Dowling, then-Social Affairs Editor, The Age
